  • Brian Piccolo Memorial Stadium

St. Thomas High School, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Aquinas_StadiumAfter 29 years without a stadium, St. Thomas Aquinas High School built the Brian Piccolo Memorial Stadium, completing construction in September 1975. The Raiders finally had a place to call home.

The stadium is named in honor of Louis Brian Piccolo. Brian prepped at St. Thomas, which at the time was known as Central Catholic High School. He was a star running back on the football team, as well as a star baseball player. Brian went on to play at Wake Forest University.

Passed up in the NFL Draft, the All-American halfback signed with the Chicago Bears in 1965. He played for the Bears for only four seasons before succumbing to a rare form of cancer in 1970 at the age of 26.

The stadium continues to host games today and is a tribute to the legacy of one of St. Thomas Aquinas’ greatest alumni.
